New City Restaurant

There are so many “Hong Kong style cafes” located in Markham area to choose from but I always end up going back to New City Restaurant  [新城市餐廳]. The reason being is that New City NEVER DISAPPOINTS hence why I’ve been back numerous times =D

New City is extremely busy during lunch / late afternoon on weekends (haven’t been during weekdays). I always end up waiting for less than 5 minutes at the door before being seated. The restaurant is always jammed pack during peak hours so you’ll feel a little claustrophobic.

So my dad and I were in the area on a late Saturday afternoon and decided to grab some quick eats. I always overwhelmed by the amount of choices on their menu(s). But I was craving a super hot soup with noodles on a particular windy day and opted for this:

紅燒牛肉麵 Braised Beef with Shanghai Noodle Soup ($4.50)

  • I never order this particular this dish at other restaurants because they never make it right – either the noodles are too soggy or there’s too much fat in the braised beef or the soup isn’t hot enough…
  • New City makes it uber delicious – the braised beef are always cooked perfectly, and the broth is so tasty that I always sneak a few sips even though broth in general is not that good for you =p
  • Plus: Hong Kong style Milk Tea (熱奶茶) is always the perfect compliment

Here’s a closer shot

My dad had opted for this:

咖喱魚蛋河粉 Curry Fish Ball in Noodle Soup ($4.50)

  • New City is always generous with their portions – They never cheap out when it comes to stuffing  you with goodies =]
  • My dad really enjoyed this but he told me he’ll be ordering my braised beef next time haahaa =]

My experiences at New City Restaurant are always tasty, filling and cheap! It’s definitely safe to come to New City because they are always consistent with their quality and portions.  Always looking forward to my next visits

I love HK-style cafes! But now that I live downtown, it’s tough to satisfy my craving for a good baked pork chop and and iced milk tea…

I know what you mean. I live in Sauga so I have to travel pretty far to satisfy my cravings for good old chinese food 🙂
