Weekend Reading + Happy Things 07.31.20 (Signing off for the Long Weekend!)

Happy Friday and long weekend everyone! I want to hear what everyone is doing so please leave a comment or DM 🙂

As you can probably tell by the blog post title, we’re going to be signing off for the long weekend. Every year in August, I join Eden and his family on a camping trip. We usually try to book a new campsite every year to keep things fun and exciting. If you’re interested about all the 45 different provincial parks in Ontario, I wrote an ultimate guide of everything you need to know camping at an Ontario Park. The post divides the parks up into different regions in Ontario. I will also be recapping our camping experience (during Covid-19) upon our return for those that have campsites already booked for this year, so be sure to stay tuned for that!

I just picked up my own pair of plastic Birks after reading Grace’s blog post last week and can’t wait to wear them this weekend!

Nordstrom’s Anniversary sale is happening soon – here is everything there is to know!

If you love eggplant as much as I do, here are 57 ways to bake, blend and grill them

Here are face masks for the family. I picked up a few these this morning. They even have adjustable ear straps and come in packs of 5 or 10!

Things That Made Me Happy This Week

We had a lot on our plates last week so I wasn’t able to publish a weekend reading post last Friday. So here’s a recap of some of the things that made me happy the past TWO weeks!

As you probably already know, I’m obsessed with anything matcha! And ARVO makes great matcha lattes, specifically the unsweetened kind which is just how I like it. We visited ARVO last weekend when Eden and I wanted to enjoy a morning stroll in the Distillery. When things do go back to normal, I hope they will serve their charcuterie toasts again.

Since quarantine started, Eden and I have established a weekly cooking routine and have found our staple recipes. And since it’s been going pretty well, we decided to splurge a little and upgrade our cookware now that we’re going to be working from home for the unforeseeable future. We’ve only used the pot once to make some pasta but I will be sure to report back once we’ve used everything several times.

GUYS! Stop everything that you’re currently watching and watch YOUNGER. It’s so good. I started watching this show 1.5 weeks ago and finished all six seasons. SIX SEASONS!!! Each episode is roughly 25 minutes so you don’t have to feel too dedicated to the TV. Younger is about Liza, a recently divorced 40 year old woman who is trying to get back into the publishing world after being a stay-at-home mom for the past 15 years. No one is willing to hire her so she lies on her resume about being a 26 year old. She is instantly hired as an assistant at Empircal Publishing and the story goes on from there.

Also, if you love books and want to know everything behind the scenes and how the publishing world works, this show gives you a really great insight!

It made me really happy to see Laduree’s PATH location open again. I’m not normally a macaroon type of girl but I will inhale a few of their “Marie Antoinette” macaroons no problem. It has tea infused flavours and so it’s not as sweet as some of the other flavours I’ve tried in the past.

We picked up this bad boy a few weeks ago and now we pretty much barbecue everything that is BBQ-able! Following our condo requirements, we had to look for an electric grill and came across one on sale for less than $100 CAD. It’s one of our favourite purchases this summer!

So a few things about this picture puts a smile on my face. I can’t remember the last time I indulged in a lobster roll but Buster’s Sea Cove never disappoints. I obviously wouldn’t eat a lobster roll without wearing Grace’s signature red house dress. Unfortunately the dress is no longer available for purchase as it was a limited edition that I purchased from Amazon The Drop.

That’s it from me! Hope you guys have an amazing long weekend. xo
