Ghost Hunting with On-Foot Tours

Did you know that there are many ghosts still hanging around some of the popular Toronto neighbourhoods that we walk through everyday? Are you curious enough to go ghost hunting with your partner, friends or family? This may actually be the perfect activity to do with Halloween quickly approaching this week! I love joining tours especially ones in our own city in Toronto. There is always so much to learn and things to appreciate about a place we call home. That’s why we recently joined a ghost tour with On-Foot Tours.

About the tours

On-Foot Tours is a fully immersive walking tour via their mobile app. The tour is very interactive with augmented and virtual reality and with audio visual. They currently offer 5 tours in downtown Toronto – Distillery Ghost Tour, Downtown Ghost Tour, Graffiti Alley Tour, Old Toronto Ghost Tour, and West Queen West Tour. The app is available for download on the App Store and Google Play. All you need to bring is a pair of headphones.

Distillery Ghost Tour

Without giving away too many details of the Distillery Ghost tour and all the different stops we made, I can say the Ghost Tour itself is quite fun and interactive, especially the VR component. What I can share is that the Distillery Ghost Tour is 1.5km in length and takes approximately 90 minutes. The tour features 15+ ghostly stories with more than 30 historical referenece photos as well as 360 ° photography of building interiors.

Through the app, the tour also includes GPS guidance, audio narration, illustrations, historical images, augmented reality ghosts, 360 ° virtual tours and selfies with ghosts!

How to use the app

I was pleasantly surprised that the app was elegant and not overly complicated. After you select your tour, there is a map with different pins. You can either follow the guided route or choose your own path. There is GPS guidance on the map so you don’t get lost. Once you’ve reached the pin, press play and the audio will begin. Some pins have 360 ° photography of building interiors while others have an augmented reality ghost, as shown in the 4th screenshot below.

The ghost will appear when the AR camera is selected and then you can take a photo with the ghost within the app!

And before we knew it, that was the end of our 90 minute tour learning about the history and and taking fun photos with the ghosts using the AR Camera! What I like about the tour is that you can pause at any time and if you’re hungry, you can grab a bite to eat and then come back to the tour! If you’re not sure what to do for Halloween this year and you want to try something different, why not try out On-Foot Tours?

That’s it from me! Please be sure to leave a comment if you have any questions about on-foot tours! Feel free to also follow along my Instagram page where I update daily with what I’m up to!
