Saturday mornings at Alchemy Coffee

As I live on the west end of the GTA, it’s pretty rare for me to be able to brunch uptown on the weekends. You guys know how much I love trying out new brunch places around town so I’m here to share another and will try to do so more often!

Alchemy Coffee is a quaint little coffee shop located on Highway 7 (close to Unionville) in Markham. This particular coffee shop serves brunch but is set up in a way that the eatery is not “full service”. Customers seat themselves upon arrival and places their food order at the counter. The staff will then bring the food to the customer’s table once ready.

Matcha Tea Latte ($4.25)

  • This beverage looks visually appealing but unfortunately it was lacking the matcha flavour. The latte overall was very bland.

{Left} Iced Brewed Coffee ($2.75)
{Right} Matcha Tea Latte ($4.75)

  • Both of these cold drinks, similarly to the matcha latte served hot were also very bland. There wasn’t much coffee or matcha flavour

Open Faced Omelette ($12.00)

  • Bacon, corn, tomatoes, goat cheese served with house salad

006

Eggs Benny ($13.00)

  • Peameal bacon, avocado, spinach, cheddar served with home fries and salad

005

Buttermilk Pancakes ($11.00)

  • topped with mixed berries & cereal

The food overall was alright – although everything looked visually appealing, the items we tried could have used a bit more seasoning. The beverages (both hot and cold) tasted bland. I’m sure over time Alchemy Coffee – which is still considered a “new” eatery, will make a great place once they fix the few hiccups.
