Washington Travels: Baked & Wired

One of my best friends visited Baked & Wired (@bakedandwiredDC) 2 weeks prior to my trip and highly recommended the cupcakes here. Not being too crazed about cupcakes in general, I still made my way to visit this cute little cupcake shop in Georgetown on a bright and sunny Sunday afternoon.

They handcraft their bake goods in small batches, from breakfast breads to biscotti to cookies to muffins and cupcakes! It’s a whole lot of goodness once you walk through those doors!

Just like we expected there was a line outside of the shop. A friendly staff handed out a menu for us to study. We waited about 15-20 minutes.

The shop is very narrow and not exactly spacious. You order your cupcake at the front and they give your order right away either for here or to go. There’s a few couches and chairs at the back of the shop. The atmosphere here is funky and hipster like, but still cleanly and modern at the same time.

Each cupcake is shown on display – in its own cute little jar! – They have very specific flavours.

Chocolate Doom ($4.25)

  • Chocolate cake topped with dark chocolate ganache

The cupcake I had was super rich and decadent. It’s probably the biggest and moistest cupcake I’ve ever tasted. I liked the frosting – wasn’t too sweet. I’m glad I made my way to check out this place especially since I’m not too big on cupcakes! This place is a great place to go, relax, and enjoy a dessert with or without friends.
